Imagine a world where a smartphone app helps you to diagnose your child's skin condition, even if you live in a remote area in Indonesia.
That idea is becoming a reality! Thanks to a brilliant project by researchers at BINUS University, collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (PERDOSKI), and PR Komputasi BRIN, along with a team of medical and tech experts. They are developing an AI-powered teledermatology app specifically designed for children.
How Does It Work?
You can easily use it by:
- Snap a picture: Take a photo of your child's skin condition using your smartphone.
- Upload and analyze: Send that image to the app, then artificial intelligence technology will analyze it.
- Get instant results: The app provides a possible diagnosis based on its analysis.
Imagine a young girl in a remote village with a mysterious skin condition! Her parents might have been worried and unsure of what to do. With this app, they could simply take a photo of the rash, get a possible diagnosis, and seek guidance from a healthcare provider.

Do you or someone you know ever struggle to get a diagnosis for their child's skin condition? Let us discuss it with Dr. Nur Afny Catur Andryani, S.Si., M.Sc. and team on how this technology can improve healthcare access for children in Indonesia and beyond.
"We were inspired by the challenges faced by families in remote parts of Indonesia who may not have easy access to pediatric dermatologists," said Dr. Nur Afny Catur Andryani, S.Si., M.Sc, the lead inventor of the AI-Powered Pediatric Teledermatology app. "This app aims to bridge that gap and provide them with a valuable tool for getting a preliminary diagnosis and seeking appropriate care for their children's skin concerns."
