Product Purpose:

HerNutrition: A Mobile-Based Application for Nutrition Monitoring for Young Ladies, Pregnant Women, and Prospective Brides.

The product was designed to monitor nutrition for pregnant women, young ladies, and prospective brides. It is available on Android cell phones. Both clinicians and patients utilize this application, which is compatible with Android-based mobile phones. The benefits of this product include improved access to healthcare services without geographical constraints. It simplifies obtaining and consulting on nutritional health services using mobile telemedicine applications for the public.

Research background

Low birth weight (LBW) is a condition that arises when a mother suffers from malnutrition during her pregnancy, a lack of regular and full antenatal care (ANC) visits, anemia, chronic energy deficiency (KEK), premature birth, and placental abnormalities.

According to the 2021 Indonesian Nutritional Status (SGI), one in four children in Indonesia is stunted, and one in ten is malnourished (Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia, 2022). Emphasizing nutrition is vital in reducing low birth weight (LBW) situations, where babies are delivered weighing less than 2500 grams.

Research history

This research was a collaboration with the Sawah Besar District Health Center. Addressing nutritional issues early is crucial, as is monitoring growth regularly at health facilities. Young ladies, prospective brides, and pregnant women require proper nutrition to prevent infant stunting.

During FGD, discussions with Sawah Besar Health Center revealed the need for a tool to monitor the conditions of pregnant and prospective pregnant women, enabling better nutritional treatment.

On March 31, 2023, the first FGD (Focused Group Discussion) took place as an online meeting. The Sawah Besar Community Health Center explained its approach to handling and monitoring the nutrition of pregnant women. After several FGDs, the final application was completed on January 31, 2024, and successfully launched on March 26, 2024, for internal use.
